From October:

It's a cool, rainy day at last, so I think that calls for baking bread and attempting homemade jam. I'd say that was a rainy Sunday well spent. 😋

I should've made two loaves since it's almost already gone. The crust is nice and soft, but does anyone have any tips for making it crunchier in a dutch oven?

From October:

I'm experimenting with the bread today. I did a three strand braid and then brushed it with olive oil, coarse salt, ground pepper, and a dash of garlic salt. I'm gonna call that a success:

Looks good! Any flavoring or regular bread? ( I hesitate to say "plain" because regular bread tastes great too. )

Thank you! I'm assuming you're talking about the braided loaf, so the answer is that it's just regular white bread. Nothing too fancy.

It took me a minute to figure out where this little section @Chris set up for me had gone off to, but I'm glad I found it, because that means I get to post my homemade soft pretzels in two places instead of just one. LOL!

Those look really good Chelsea! I like that they’re nice and thick, more than you’d get at a lot of places you’ll find at the Mall.

Everything is better when it’s home baked

Thank you! They were all slightly different in size, and my shaping needs a little work, but I'm happy with how they came out.

Thank you so much. My mother has requested another batch already. 😂

It's been a hot minute since I baked some bread, so here's an overnight loaf I decided to try out. It's the first loaf I've ever gotten to crackle as it cools, and nothing beats that sound.

Anything special or just a loaf of good old home baked bread?

It's a different recipe than I usually use, and it sits to rise overnight. But other than that, it's just homemade bread.

And really, there’s no such thing as “just” homemade bread, right?

Definitely not. It's gonna beat that stuff on the shelf every time, after all.
